Nivritti De-Addiction Centres Receive National Recognition – DG Soumya Mishra

The Telangana Prisons Department has received recognition at the national level for its reform and rehabilitation initiatives. The department has been recognised with a SKOCH Award for its efforts in rehabilitating and reintegrating prisoners into society. Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Dr. Soumya Mishra has highlighted the department’s focus on correction, rehabilitation and social reintegration.

As part of its reform initiatives, the department has established NIVRUTTI de-addiction centres at the Special Prison for Women in Hyderabad and central prisons in Hyderabad, Cherlapalli, Sangareddy and Nizamabad. The initiative focuses on counselling, treatment and rehabilitation of inmates affected by substance abuse. Dr. Soumya Mishra has emphasised the department’s efforts towards creating a drug-free Telangana through innovative programmes.
