New Robotics Paper Introduced in GATE

The GATE 2027 examination schedule has been officially released by IIT Madras, with exams set to be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, and 21 in two daily sessions. Organized under the National Coordination Board–GATE, the exam is jointly conducted by IITs and IISc. This marks the 45th edition since its inception in 1983, with nearly one million candidates appearing annually. The online application process is expected to begin in mid-August 2026. This year, new verification measures such as DigiLocker integration and facial recognition have been introduced to enhance candidate authentication.

Significant changes have been made to the GATE 2027 syllabus across all papers for the first time in five years. A new Robotics and Automation (RA) paper has been introduced, reflecting the growing importance of AI and automation technologies. Additionally, the Textile Engineering and Fiber Science (TF) paper has been merged into Engineering Sciences (XE) as a sectional subject. The exam will continue in CBT mode with a duration of three hours, consisting of 65 questions for 100 marks. Eligibility criteria remain unchanged, allowing final-year and third-year undergraduate students to apply.
