The Tamil Nadu government led by Chief Minister Vijay has expanded its cabinet, with leaders from TVK and Congress taking oath as ministers in the first cabinet expansion. However, the ceremony turned controversial after a Congress minister reportedly mentioned senior party leaders while taking the oath, prompting a strong objection from Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who stated that such remarks were not part of the official oath.
Congress MLAs Rajesh Kumar and Vishwanathan were inducted into CM Vijay’s cabinet. During the oath-taking ceremony, Rajesh Kumar concluded his oath and later referred to leaders including Rajiv Gandhi, Kamaraj, and Rahul Gandhi, which led to immediate disapproval from the Governor. Another controversy emerged regarding the order of state songs, with objections raised by Left parties over the protocol followed during the event. The CPI and CPI(M) leaders criticized the arrangement, stating that the state anthem should be given due priority. Meanwhile, the total cabinet expansion included 23 ministers, including members from TVK and Congress.
