The National Saras Mela 2026 is set to begin in Vijayawada today, with President Droupadi Murmu and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu scheduled to inaugurate the event. The 14-day fair will continue until the 31st of this month. Its primary objective is to promote products made by women belonging to DWCRA self-help groups and help them gain recognition in domestic and international markets. After previously being organised in the national capital, Delhi, the National Saras Mela is being held in Andhra Pradesh for the first time.
A total of 650 stalls have been arranged to showcase and sell products manufactured by DWCRA women. The Andhra Pradesh government is supporting their marketing efforts under the ‘Swayam AP’ brand, aiming to expand market access and improve the earning opportunities of women’s self-help groups. The fair is expected to provide a platform for women entrepreneurs to display their products and connect with a wider customer base. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will attend a special luncheon with DWCRA women at Punnami Ghat in Vijayawada this afternoon.
