A major mishap was narrowly averted during the Papikondalu tourist trip in Polavaram. Thirty-eight tourists escaped safely after staff members of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation noticed water entering the tourist boat near Gandiposhamma Temple in Devipatnam mandal. Tourists had booked their tickets online and arrived at the boat point for the scheduled journey.
Nearly two hours before departure, staff observed that the boat had sunk deeper into the water than usual. Upon inspection, they found a minor crack in the front joint of the boat, allowing water to enter. The staff immediately removed the water and shifted all tourists safely to another boat named ‘Vijayaganga’ following instructions from senior officials. Authorities stated that the damaged boat would not be allowed for service until complete repairs are finished.
