Veteran actor Akkineni Nagarjuna has approached the Delhi High Court alleging violation of his personality rights. In his petition, Nagarjuna stated that his name and photographs were being used commercially without his permission. He informed the court that a clothing trader was allegedly selling apparel featuring his images and name without authorization. During the hearing held today, the High Court expressed serious concern over the matter and questioned the trader over the unauthorized use of the actor’s identity for commercial purposes.
Representing the trader, advocate Shruti Iyer argued that they were official merchandising partners for The Ghost and sought exemption from the case. The defense claimed that the agreement was made through a marketing agency associated with the production house and stated that Nagarjuna himself had promoted the products. However, Nagarjuna’s counsel objected to the claims, stating that the trader failed to submit valid agreement documents. The actor’s legal team also pointed out that the email copies submitted before the court were incomplete. The matter is currently under judicial consideration.
