Andhra Pradesh Minister Nadendla Manohar met Union Minister Prahlad Joshi in New Delhi to discuss key food procurement and agricultural policies. Following the meeting, the Centre agreed to implement the 10 percent broken rice policy from the upcoming Kharif season, replacing the existing 25 percent norm to ensure the supply of better-quality rice.
The Centre also approved the procurement of 4 lakh metric tonnes of boiled rice from Andhra Pradesh. Minister Nadendla Manohar stated that the AP pilot project has inspired a nationwide rollout of the policy. He further revealed that the Centre has assured support for the sale of Araku coffee in defence canteen stores across the country.
