The Vande Bharat Sleeper service is set to expand to another important route, with a new overnight train planned between Mumbai and Bengaluru. The service is expected to be introduced soon after the Railway Board approved the proposal, although the official launch date is yet to be announced. According to reports, the train will operate six days a week in both directions, providing passengers with a faster overnight travel option between the two major cities.
The Bengaluru-Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper is expected to depart Bengaluru at 10 PM and reach Mumbai at around 1:50 PM the following day. In the return direction, it is scheduled to leave Mumbai at 10:30 PM and reach Bengaluru at around 2:50 PM the next day, with the journey taking roughly 16 hours. Proposed stoppages include Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune and Kalyan. The service is expected to provide a quicker alternative to the existing Udyan Express, which takes considerably longer on the route. India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper service began commercial operations between Kamakhya and Howrah in January 2026.
