Bharatiya Janata Party MP Janardan Mishra from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, has drawn attention with his remarks about Tesla chief Elon Musk. Speaking at an event organised in Rewa in connection with the proposed establishment of a Sanskrit university, Mishra said that anyone seeking to do business in India must comply with the country’s rules and regulations. He made strong remarks directed at Musk, asserting that India could not be bought or intimidated and praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Mishra added that businesses willing to follow Indian regulations were welcome, while those unwilling to do so could leave. His comments have since circulated widely on social media.
The remarks come as Musk’s SpaceX seeks to introduce its Starlink satellite internet services in India. Musk has previously commented publicly on delays in the approval process for Starlink, drawing attention to the regulatory challenges facing the service. Mishra’s response has reignited discussion around the issue. The BJP leader has represented Rewa in the Lok Sabha since 2014 and won re-election in 2019 and 2024. His outspoken style has frequently attracted media attention.
