BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao has assured oil palm farmers that more incentives will be provided once the party returns to power. During his visit to Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on Sunday, he interacted with farmers and gathered feedback on their experiences. He stated that expanding oil palm cultivation to 2 million acres was a visionary goal set by KCR, aimed at ensuring farmers earn three times more income compared to traditional crops like paddy. Under the previous BRS government, the cultivation area increased from 1.5 lakh acres to 3 lakh acres.
KTR noted that with continued support from the current Congress government, oil palm cultivation could reach 7 lakh acres. He cited the example of an IT employee, Anil, working at HCL, who is cultivating oil palm on seven acres and achieving yields of up to five tonnes per acre, ensuring steady monthly income. Other farmers also shared that the crop requires less water compared to paddy, making it more sustainable and profitable.
