The United States has issued security alerts covering 12 Middle Eastern countries and locations, urging American citizens to remain vigilant amid rising regional tensions. The alerts cover Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Israel and Iran. According to reports published on October 19, 2026, US diplomatic missions have warned that hostilities could escalate and that Iran and its allies could target American interests, including businesses. Travellers have been advised to prepare for possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and sudden changes to travel plans.
The warnings also highlight threats from Houthi attacks targeting Saudi airports and infrastructure. Americans have been advised to keep a low profile, avoid large gatherings and stay away from locations associated with the United States. However, the alerts do not mean that all airports across the region are being shut down. Given the evolving security situation and recent flight disruptions in Saudi Arabia, travellers should verify their flight status with airlines and monitor official travel advisories before departing.
