The security situation in the Middle East has become increasingly tense following Iran's reported decision to once again close the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically vital global shipping route. Amid growing concerns over attacks on vessels in the region, Qatar has ordered the temporary suspension of all commercial, leisure, and fishing maritime operations until further notice. The Qatari government said the move was taken as a precautionary measure to safeguard public safety and maritime security.
Meanwhile, reports indicated that Iran launched ballistic missiles toward Doha, with Qatar's air defence systems reportedly intercepting several projectiles. Local media reported that some civilians were injured during the incident. Separately, Oman strongly criticised Iran's actions, describing them as irresponsible and stressing the importance of respecting national sovereignty, maintaining good neighbourly relations, and avoiding interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
