Mega Olympic City to Be Built in Tamil Nadu - CM Vijay

Chief Minister Vijay has announced plans to develop a world-class Tamil Nadu Olympic City in Chennai under the Tamil Nadu Sports Development Authority. The proposed facility is expected to feature international-standard sports grounds, advanced sporting equipment, high-performance training centres, specialised sports science facilities and sports medical centres. Modern infrastructure and accommodation facilities will also be provided for coaches and athletes. Vijay said the initiative is aimed at providing Tamil Nadu athletes with professional training and comprehensive support to help them improve their performance and win more medals at the Olympic level.

The Chief Minister also outlined plans for a Motor Sports City in Chennai, with the aim of hosting Formula racing and other major international motor sporting events. Young talent with an interest in motorsports will be identified and provided with proper training, he said. The project is expected to boost tourism, attract specialised automobile manufacturing industries and create employment opportunities for young people while contributing to economic growth. Meanwhile, efforts are also underway at the national level to bring Formula 1 racing back to India by the end of 2028, with a dedicated task force reportedly formed in June to work towards this objective.
