Rayalaseema is set to emerge as a major defence hub with the launch of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft project in Puttaparthi of Sri Sathya Sai district. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for the ₹15,803 crore project today. The project is expected to generate employment opportunities for nearly 7,500 people.
The project is being jointly developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency and DRDO on 650 acres of land. As part of the initiative, India’s first fifth-generation stealth multirole fighter aircraft will be developed. Officials say the aircraft will feature advanced stealth technology, twin engines, and supercruise capabilities. The government also expects investments worth nearly ₹1 lakh crore through allied industries connected to the project.
