Telangana Congress in charge Meenakshi Natarajan alleged that the BJP conspired to reject her Rajya Sabha nomination in Madhya Pradesh. Speaking at a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, she said there was no conspiracy against her within the Congress party and that there was no need for anyone in the party to work against her. She also rejected reports that a Rajya Sabha member from Telangana would resign to accommodate her.
Meenakshi alleged that the BJP fielded a third candidate in Madhya Pradesh despite lacking adequate numbers. She stated that three Rajya Sabha seats are vacant in the state and the BJP has sufficient strength to win only two seats, while it requires the support of 10 more MLAs to secure the third seat. She accused the Election Commission and Returning Officers of acting in collusion and said she would file an election petition to fight the matter legally. She also clarified that no criminal cases are pending against her and that only a notice had been issued.
