Medical shops across India are observing a nationwide shutdown today in protest against the sale of medicines through online platforms. The strike has been called by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists (AIOCD), which has strongly opposed the growing trend of e-pharmacy services. The organization argues that online sales of medicines pose risks to patient safety and bypass necessary regulations.
As part of the protest, nearly 1.6 million chemist shops across the country are expected to remain closed on Wednesday. The shutdown is likely to impact the availability of medicines in several regions, causing inconvenience to the public. The AIOCD has urged authorities to take strict action against unauthorized online drug sales and to ensure proper regulatory oversight.
