A matchmaking consultant has triggered widespread discussion on social media after removing a woman's profile from her matchmaking service, citing unrealistic expectations regarding a prospective groom. According to matchmaker Oendrila Kapoor, the 28-year-old woman earns around ₹11 lakh per annum. While her family initially requested an educated man from a respectable family with a stable career, they later insisted on finding a Bengali Brahmin groom earning more than ₹1 crore annually.
Kapoor said her team approached several men who matched the family's stated preferences, but none expressed interest in moving forward with the proposal. She eventually removed the woman's profile from the platform, stating that while personal preferences are completely valid, expectations should also be practical and realistic. Her remark that "Men can smell greed from a mile away" quickly went viral, prompting mixed reactions online. While some supported her stand, others argued that individuals have the right to choose their own standards in marriage.
