A major fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday at the foot of the Cheruvugattu Sri Parvathi Jadala Ramalingeswara Swamy temple hill in Narketpally mandal of Nalgonda district. The blaze reportedly originated in a toy shop and rapidly spread to around 25 neighbouring shops, reducing them to ashes. Locals said two gas cylinders exploded as the flames intensified, adding to the severity of the incident. The fire also spread to the nearby gram panchayat office, where several important documents were reportedly destroyed.
After receiving information about the incident, fire and emergency personnel rushed to the spot and deployed three fire engines to bring the flames under control. Police, firefighters and local residents joined the relief efforts. Preliminary estimates suggest that property worth around ₹3 crore to ₹4 crore may have been damaged in the blaze. Despite the scale of the fire and the reported cylinder explosions, no loss of life was reported, bringing relief to local residents and authorities.
