A powerful earthquake of magnitude 7.3 struck off the coast of Chiapas in southern Mexico on Friday. According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake was recorded at a depth of around 15.2 kilometers. The tremors were felt in Mexico, Guatemala, and El Salvador, causing buildings to shake in several areas.
Authorities reported that no immediate major damage or casualties were recorded. However, warnings were issued about the possibility of dangerous tsunami waves along the coastal areas of Mexico and Guatemala. Officials advised residents in coastal regions to remain alert.
