The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has busted a massive smuggling racket involving banned nicotine products across India. Simultaneous raids were conducted in key states including Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, and West Bengal, leading to the seizure of a huge quantity of illegal e-cigarettes and vape devices. Officials confirmed that more than 3 lakh e-cigarettes and vape products worth nearly ₹120 crore were recovered during the operation.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, DRI officials uncovered an international smuggling network involved in illegally importing banned nicotine products into the country. Preliminary investigation revealed that the gang used multiple ports and airports to bypass customs checks and distribute the products through black market channels. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify the larger network involved in the racket.
