Nearly 3.90 lakh gig and platform workers across Telangana participated in a statewide Breakdown Flash Strike following a joint call by the Telangana App Based Drivers Forum (TADF) and the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Union (TGPWU). The protest saw participation from app based cab drivers, auto drivers, goods transport drivers, delivery partners, and other workers associated with platforms such as Ola, Uber, Rapido, Swiggy, Zomato, Zepto, Blinkit, Porter, and several other digital service companies.
Several trade unions, workers' organisations, and democratic groups expressed solidarity with the strike and supported the proposed indefinite protest after August 8, 2026, if the government and platform companies fail to address the workers' demands. The workers sought a fair minimum base fare with reasonable per kilometre and per-minute charges, immediate notification of the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers Rules, constitution of the Welfare Board, and implementation of minimum fares under the Motor Vehicle Aggregator Guidelines, 2025.
