Major Rishabh Singh Sambyal, President’s ADC, Takes Premature Retirement

Major Rishabh Singh Sambyal may not be a familiar name to everyone, but the Army officer who was frequently seen accompanying President Droupadi Murmu during official programmes and tours has gained considerable popularity on social media. Rishabh, who served as the President’s Aide-de-Camp (ADC), has now taken premature retirement from the Army after around 12 years of service. Reports indicate that he decided to leave the force citing personal and family responsibilities.

Rishabh joined the National Defence Academy (NDA) in 2014 and underwent training in military studies and defence management. He served with the 4 Para Special Forces and was awarded the prestigious Balidan Badge. In 2021, as a Captain, he led the Jat Regiment contingent during the Republic Day Parade. The Jat Regiment went on to win the Best Marching Contingent Trophy that year, bringing Rishabh into the spotlight. He was subsequently selected as the President’s ADC in 2023. His frequent appearances alongside President Murmu and his professional handling of protocol and security duties made him popular online, with netizens even calling him a ‘national crush’. His sudden exit from the Army has now sparked discussion on social media. The Defence Ministry has not publicly clarified the reasons behind his retirement, while reports attribute the decision to personal and family commitments.
