The Telangana Police Department has undertaken a major restructuring, with priority being given to traffic management and road safety. According to the DGP, 513 police personnel have been transferred or assigned new responsibilities. Of them, 224 personnel have been allocated to traffic and road safety duties. They will take charge after completing 11 days of specialised training.
As part of the restructuring, 80 personnel have been assigned to tackle food adulteration and drug control. The DGP said special focus is also being placed on drugs and cybercrime. Cyber fraud has caused losses of around Rs. 1,750 crore in Telangana, he said, stressing the need to strengthen policing to effectively tackle emerging crimes.
