Major Espionage Network Busted in Delhi

Delhi Police’s Special Cell has reportedly busted an alleged espionage network linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and arrested a couple from the national capital. The accused have been identified as 25-year-old Sahil and his 21-year-old wife Sameera, residents of the Chand Bibi Camp area in Sarai Kale Khan. According to investigators, the couple had allegedly been in contact with Pakistan-based handlers since 2024 and were suspected of passing sensitive information related to India’s defence establishment in exchange for money.

Investigators allege that Sahil helped facilitate the use of Indian mobile numbers for activating WhatsApp accounts in Pakistan, which were allegedly used by handlers to enter Indian groups and collect information. He was also suspected of conducting reconnaissance around military cantonment areas, recruiting new contacts and gathering details concerning Army personnel facing court-martial proceedings. The alleged association reportedly began through Instagram, after which Pakistani operatives are accused of drawing the couple deeper into the network. Police said mobile phones seized from the suspects contained chats with Pakistani contacts and other material relevant to the investigation. Sahil reportedly holds a degree from IGNOU and had previously worked with a lawyer, while Sameera had worked at a call centre in Noida. The Special Cell is now investigating possible links to other Pakistan-linked operatives and local contacts.
