Major Cannabis Seizure at Chennai Airport

Customs and Air Intelligence officers at Chennai International Airport seized 15 kg of hydroponic cannabis worth around ₹15 crore and arrested a 28-year-old passenger from the city. The passenger had arrived in Chennai on a private flight from Bangkok on Friday night after travelling to Thailand as a tourist.

During the inspection, officials became suspicious of the passenger’s behaviour and detained him for questioning. A search of his suitcase led to the recovery of the cannabis packed in 26 packets. Airport police arrested the passenger and launched an investigation into the case.
