Lashkar-e-Taiba Commander Dies Under Mysterious Circumstances in Islamabad

A senior commander of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), identified in reports as Qari Syed Abdul Aziz, has reportedly died under mysterious circumstances in Islamabad. According to the reports, Abdul Aziz had visited a restaurant before heading to Quba Mosque for prayers. He allegedly collapsed near the mosque’s entrance and died shortly afterwards. The exact cause of death has not been officially established, with reports saying it remains unclear whether he died due to a medical condition, poisoning or another cause. These details have not been independently confirmed.

Abdul Aziz was reportedly involved in logistical activities for the outfit, including arrangements related to safe houses, financial assistance and forged documents for militants attempting to enter Jammu and Kashmir. He was also allegedly involved in providing financial support to families of militants killed in encounters. Separately, another LeT figure, Rizwan Hanif, recently claimed that more than 30 members of the organisation had been killed by unidentified assailants in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir over the past three years. Hanif alleged that Indian intelligence agencies were behind the killings, a claim India has rejected.
