KTR Slams KRMB Orders on Srisailam

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has strongly criticised the Krishna River Management Board’s (KRMB) directions to stop power generation from the Srisailam reservoir. Taking to X, KTR called the orders a blow to Telangana’s interests and alleged that they reflected the Congress government’s failure to protect the state’s rights. He questioned under what rules and rights water was being diverted to the Veligonda project and asked why the KRMB was not acting against what he described as Andhra Pradesh’s alleged diversion of Krishna water.

KTR further alleged that while Andhra Pradesh was drawing water for its projects, the Telangana government was cooperating by keeping the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation pumps shut. He said the Srisailam reservoir had 169 TMC of water on August 21, which had fallen to 139 TMC, claiming that 30 TMC had been lost in 15 days. He warned that stopping power generation could affect electricity availability for farmers dependent on borewells and said the BRS would expose the Congress government’s failures before the people.
