KTR: Leadership Deficit Is Holding India Back, Says BRS Leader

Speaking at the Independence Day celebrations held at Telangana Bhavan, BRS Working President KTR expressed concern over the current situation in the country. He said India, despite having a population of more than 150 crore and abundant natural resources, continues to face challenges in areas such as roads, electricity, drinking water and education. KTR said people may have different political views, but everyone remains an Indian.

KTR criticised the Union government and alleged that the country is moving backwards because of a lack of effective leadership. He compared India’s development with countries such as China, Sri Lanka and Malaysia and said India has the resources to progress much faster. He also questioned the availability of quality educational institutions and said many students are travelling to distant places in search of better opportunities. KTR alleged that political and religious divisions were distracting people from development issues.

Telangana politics also featured prominently in his speech. KTR criticised the Congress government and alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had opposed Telangana during the statehood movement. He questioned the government’s commitment to Telangana’s development and criticised the state administration over issues including electricity and welfare schemes. Referring to the BRS government, KTR said Telangana had achieved 24-hour electricity supply during KCR’s tenure after years of power shortages.

KTR also criticised the Centre’s “double-engine government” narrative and said development should be measured by actual performance rather than political slogans. He alleged that claims about Telangana’s financial condition were misleading and defended the previous BRS government’s record.

He called on BRS leaders and workers to increase party activities across the districts and organise programmes regularly. KTR also urged party leaders to protect and support their cadres. During the event, 26 employees working at Telangana Bhavan were felicitated with shawls. KTR also distributed health insurance cards worth ₹5 lakh each to the employees.
