Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge launched a sharp attack on the BJP and Union Home Minister Amit Shah while speaking in Goa. Kharge questioned the BJP’s position on patriotism and said Congress leaders should not be lectured on nationalism by the BJP or its ideological predecessors.
Kharge also referred to his long political career while taking a dig at Amit Shah. He recalled an incident in Uttarakhand, alleging that BJP workers had “purified” the stage after he addressed a gathering there. Kharge questioned whether such actions reflected the values taught by the party’s ideological mentors. He further turned the BJP’s own allegations against it, accusing the party of being “anti-India” and “anti-religion.” His remarks come amid the ongoing political exchange between the BJP and Congress over patriotism, Vande Mataram, history and nationalism.
