The Andhra Pradesh government deposited Thalliki Vandanam funds into the bank accounts of mothers of 64.76 lakh eligible students on July 22. Another batch of around 2.7 lakh students, including newly admitted Class 1 and Intermediate first-year students and cases requiring record corrections, was identified for the second phase. The government had scheduled the additional payments for August 30, but the release did not take place as planned, leaving around three lakh beneficiaries waiting for the funds. The official implementation schedule had also listed August 30 as the date for the second-phase disbursement.
The file related to the pending funds has reportedly received approval from the Finance Department and has been forwarded to the Chief Minister’s Office for final approval. Once the final clearance is obtained, the funds are expected to be released. Under the scheme, eligible beneficiaries receive ₹13,000 in their mothers’ bank accounts, while the overall annual assistance is ₹15,000 per student. The second phase is expected to extend the benefit to additional eligible students.
