Key Update in Electoral Roll Revision

The Election Commission has completed the verification of 44,24,411 electors who received notices during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls over incomplete, incorrect or defective details in their enumeration forms. Of them, 1,66,279 were found ineligible, while 42,01,092 were cleared to remain on the final electoral roll. Verification of 57,040 electors has been completed, but scrutiny of their supporting documents is still underway. Verification of another 4,434 electors remains pending.

The draft electoral roll published on July 31 contained details of 3,71,38,182 electors, while notices were issued to 44,28,845 people over discrepancies in enumeration forms. Among the remaining 3,27,09,337 electors, 3,27,08,479 have been found eligible, while verification of 858 remains pending. The Commission is also processing 85,736 Form-6 applications for new voter registration, 40,991 Form-8 applications for corrections or changes, and 9,296 Form-7 applications seeking deletion of ineligible entries. The pending verification process is scheduled to be completed by October 5, with the final electoral roll scheduled for publication on October 9.
