The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has issued key instructions to city residents regarding water tanker booking services. Officials stated that SMS based services for booking tankers are currently facing technical disruptions due to an SDC link issue.
Until the problem is resolved, citizens have been advised to use the IVRS facility for booking water tankers. The authorities assured that technical teams are working on a war footing basis to restore the SMS services and that alternative arrangements have been made to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply.
Meanwhile, the Managing Director of HMWSSB, Ashok Reddy, took serious note of the misuse of drinking water for non domestic purposes. During an inspection, he noticed water being used for cleaning a shop and immediately directed officials to impose a penalty. The individual was fined ₹10,000 for violating the rules, and the board reiterated that drinking water should not be misused.
