Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s government has stepped up its focus on implementing welfare measures and fulfilling key electoral promises. Among the major initiatives are the proposed ‘Annapoorani Super Six’ scheme for free LPG cylinders and the expansion of free bus travel for women. Vijay’s welfare agenda includes measures aimed at reducing household expenses and improving access to public transport.
Free travel is already available to women and transgender persons on eligible ordinary government bus services in Tamil Nadu. The government is considering extending the benefit to additional services. Under Vijay’s ‘Vetri Payanam’ election promise, women were assured free travel across all state government-operated buses, while the ‘Annapoorani Super Six’ scheme promised six free LPG cylinders per family every year.
