Key Decision by Telangana Government to Bring Change in the Lives of BC Women

The Telangana government has introduced a major initiative aimed at strengthening the economic independence of women from the Backward Classes (BC) community. Under the scheme, eligible BC women will be provided automatic sewing machines with a 100% government subsidy. This means beneficiaries will not have to bear any financial burden for the machines.

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar is scheduled to formally launch the scheme at the Secretariat tomorrow. As part of the initiative, 1,19,000 automatic sewing machines will be distributed across the state. A total of 119 constituencies will be covered, with 1,000 machines allocated to each constituency. The government expects the initiative to create better livelihood opportunities and support self-employment among BC women.
