The Lok Sabha has approved a bill proposing to change the name of Kerala to “Keralam”. The bill was passed amid protests by Opposition members, with no detailed discussion taking place in the House. The move follows a resolution passed by the Kerala Legislative Assembly seeking the change.
The proposed name “Keralam” reflects the name traditionally used in Malayalam. The bill will now proceed through the remaining parliamentary process before the name change can officially take effect.
