Kerala witnessed a significant rise in liquor sales ahead of the Onam festival. During the eight days leading up to Thiruvonam, liquor worth ₹771.29 crore was sold through outlets operated by Bevco and Consumerfed. The sales were around ₹77 crore higher than those recorded during the same period last year, reflecting strong demand during the festive period.
The highest single-day sales were recorded on Uthradam, the eve of Thiruvonam. Liquor sales on the day reached ₹146.66 crore, with Bevco outlets accounting for ₹126.31 crore and Consumerfed outlets recording ₹20.35 crore. The figures highlight the substantial liquor purchases recorded in Kerala during the Onam celebrations.
