Kavitha Demands Age Limit Hike for Police Jobs

Telangana Rashtra Sena chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha has demanded an increase in the age limit for police recruitment and called for the filling of all vacant constable and sub-inspector posts. Speaking at a meeting with constable job aspirants at the Telangana Rashtra Sena office in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, she alleged that unemployed youth played a major role in bringing the Congress to power but were being ignored after the government assumed office. She claimed that delays in recruitment notifications and the lack of age relaxation had caused many aspirants to cross the eligibility age and lose the opportunity to apply.

Kavitha demanded that the upper age limit be increased to 38 years for subinspector posts and 36 years for constable posts. She said such a move would benefit several lakh unemployed candidates. She also alleged that although around 20,000 constable posts are vacant, notification was issued for only 7,000 positions. Questioning the lack of coordination between the Home Department and the government, she urged authorities to take the issue seriously and increase the age limit. She assured constable aspirants fighting for the demand that her organisation would extend full support to their movement.
