Karur Tragedy Is Unforgettable in My Life - CM Vijay

On the first anniversary of the Karur stampede, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the tragedy. The incident occurred on September 27, 2025, during a TVK rally in Karur, where 41 people died and more than 100 others were injured. Vijay described the tragedy as an enduring wound for the families of the victims, his supporters and the TVK family. He said the pain of the bereaved families could not be expressed in words and urged everyone to continue supporting one another.

The CBI is currently investigating the Karur stampede case. The probe was initially handled by the state police and a Special Investigation Team before the Supreme Court directed that it be transferred to the CBI for an independent investigation. Investigators are examining aspects including permissions for the rally, crowd-management arrangements and the circumstances that led to the tragedy. Several TVK leaders have been questioned, and Vijay has also appeared before the CBI in connection with the case.
