

Ministers from Telangana and Karnataka held a crucial meeting to discuss issues related to the sharing of Krishna river waters and drinking water needs. The meeting took place at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Secretariat, where Telangana Irrigation Minister Captain N. Uttam Kumar Reddy met Karnataka Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology, Bose Rajulu. The discussions focused on water utilization, irrigation projects, and ensuring adequate drinking water supply for both states. Several public representatives and senior officials also participated and shared their views.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy emphasized that project planning should not compromise Telangana’s interests. He stated that detailed discussions were held on technical aspects of the proposed barrage on the Krishna river, safeguarding irrigation rights, and addressing future water requirements. He highlighted the importance of inter-state coordination to achieve a permanent solution to drinking water issues and stressed prioritizing farmers’ irrigation needs through mutual understanding and cooperation.
