Kaleshwaram’s Poor Condition Must First Be Explained to People: Uttam

Telangana Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy launched a sharp attack on former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, questioning the purpose of his proposed padayatra. “Is KCR planning the padayatra to show how the seventh block of the Medigadda Barrage collapsed, or to showcase that just one pump was operated at the Narlapur pump house despite spending ₹27,000 crore?” he asked. Speaking informally to reporters at the Assembly premises on Monday, Uttam mocked reports that KCR was planning to mobilise a large crowd for visits to various projects.

Uttam questioned what KCR could show people at the project sites when the safety of the Kaleshwaram barrages itself had become a matter of concern. He said the BRS should first explain the condition of the Kaleshwaram project to the people of Telangana. The minister asserted that the government knows when to operate the pumps and lift water. He also said he had the authority to decide whom to appoint as an irrigation adviser and defended the decision to bring in Adityanath Das. Uttam further alleged that KCR was responsible for the decline in political language standards in the state.
