Producer Amit Jani has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s order directing the removal of the teaser and other promotional material related to Kala Hiran: The Battle For Legacy. The development comes after Bollywood actor Salman Khan approached the Delhi High Court, alleging that the film’s content violated his personality rights. The High Court had directed that the teaser, promotional visuals and related interview links be removed.
The film is reportedly inspired by the controversy surrounding the 1998 blackbuck hunting case involving Salman Khan. The actor objected to the portrayal of a character in the teaser, particularly its resemblance to his signature blue bracelet. Salman argued that such representation amounted to an infringement of his personality rights. Challenging the High Court’s directions, producer Amit Jani has argued before the Supreme Court that the order restricts freedom of expression. He has also alleged that he has received threats from some individuals seeking to stop the film.
