Kakinada Nursing College Dispute Defused After Collector and SP Intervene

Tension at SK College of Nursing in Kakinada following a dispute between students was brought under control after the intervention of the District Collector and Superintendent of Police. The issue reportedly began after a mobile phone went missing, leading to a disagreement between students from northeastern states and Telugu-speaking students.

The northeastern students alleged that the college management had not properly addressed their complaint and accused the management of giving preference to local students. As protests continued at the hostel, senior officials intervened to prevent the situation from escalating. Officials met the students, heard the concerns of both groups and initiated measures to restore a peaceful environment.

As a precautionary measure, 31 students from northeastern states were shifted to another hostel with their consent. Officials said the decision was taken keeping the students’ safety and a peaceful atmosphere in mind. Police continued to monitor the situation, and the tension at the college and hostel gradually subsided. The students, particularly those from Manipur, thanked the Collector, SP and other officials for responding promptly to their concerns.
