JPC to Examine FCRA Bill

The Lok Sabha has approved a motion to refer the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026, to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) for detailed scrutiny. The proposed panel will have 31 members, including 21 from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha.

The move comes amid concerns and representations from opposition parties, NGOs and Christian organisations regarding the proposed legislation. The committee has been asked to examine the bill in detail and submit its report during the Winter Session of Parliament.
