JEE Advanced 2027 Date Finalised

The JEE Advanced-2027 for admission to BTech programmes across 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) is likely to be conducted on May 16, 2027, according to IIT sources. IIT Delhi is expected to conduct the examination this year. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has already announced that the first session of JEE Main will begin on January 22, 2027, while the final session is likely to be held in the first week of April. Against this schedule, IIT authorities have tentatively decided to hold JEE Advanced on May 16.

Meanwhile, there is still no clarity on the date of the IIT Council meeting, which takes key decisions concerning the IITs. The meeting is chaired by the Union Education Minister and attended by IIT chairpersons and directors, officials from the Union Education Ministry, AICTE and UGC. With September drawing to a close, the meeting date has not yet been announced. IIT sources have linked the uncertainty to recent changes in the Union Education Ministry, including the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan and the assignment of additional responsibility to Pralhad Joshi, as well as the appointment of Naresh Pal as Secretary in the Department of Higher Education. At present, candidates are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced twice in consecutive years after clearing Class 12. Students across the country have been seeking an increase in the limit to three attempts, a matter that may require discussion and a decision by the IIT Council.
