The Telangana government has taken a key decision to merge intermediate education with the school education system. In line with the National Education Policy, the state is planning to introduce a unified system up to Class 12. As part of this move, the Intermediate Board may be dissolved and integrated into school education.
Under a pilot project, 11th-grade classes will begin in 100 government schools from the 2026-27 academic year. If successful, a single education board for school and intermediate levels may be formed. The government is also preparing to issue an ordinance regarding this restructuring.
