The United States has reportedly carried out fresh strikes targeting an Iranian military base near the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions in the region. According to media reports, the operation was launched in response to potential threats to US forces and commercial shipping routes. A US official stated that Iran had deployed four drones targeting an American merchant vessel, which were successfully intercepted, prompting a preemptive strike on the military installation as a defensive measure.
Iran strongly condemned the repeated US military actions near Hormuz, accusing Washington of violating the ceasefire agreement between the two nations. Meanwhile, reports also indicated multiple explosions near the port city of Bandar Abbas in Iran, though the cause remains unclear. In a related development, former US President Donald Trump stated that any potential agreement with Iran would depend on Gulf nations signing the Abraham Accords, adding a new dimension to the ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
