Iran-US Conflict Escalates; Missile Debris Hits Wedding Home

The conflict between Iran and the United States in West Asia has once again escalated sharply. Since the beginning of the week, both sides have intensified their attacks, with the US targeting several locations in Iran during the night. Missile debris reportedly fell on a house where a wedding ceremony was underway, killing four people, including a child, and injuring around 50 others. Iran responded with retaliatory strikes targeting US-linked assets in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan.

Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a strong warning to Washington, saying Iranian forces would teach the United States a lesson it would not forget. This was reportedly his first response since the latest round of attacks began. IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohebi also warned that the US would regret its decision to launch the strikes. The latest escalation comes after the US claimed it had removed sea mines from key shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz and subsequently accused Iran of preparing to deploy mines again. US forces then targeted Iranian rocket launch sites, bringing the conflict back after a month-long lull.
