Iran Rules Out Sending Enriched Uranium Abroad, Sets Firm Condition

Pakistan is continuing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in West Asia by facilitating negotiations between the United States and Iran. However, Iran has adopted a firm position on its nuclear programme. During a meeting with Pakistan’s army chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei reportedly ruled out transferring any enriched uranium or nuclear material abroad. He stressed that negotiations with Washington could resume only after the United States took steps to rebuild trust and met Iran’s conditions.

Iran has also maintained a tough stance on the Strait of Hormuz. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned that the strategic waterway will remain closed until Washington accepts Tehran’s conditions. Iran has called for the fulfilment of previous commitments before restarting negotiations. The standoff over enriched uranium, sanctions and the Strait of Hormuz remains a major obstacle to Pakistan’s mediation efforts and the prospects of a broader peace agreement.
