

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh commissioned the indigenous warship INS Mahendragiri at the Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam. The ceremony was attended by Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, ENC Chief Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan/Bhalla and other senior naval officials. Rajnath Singh described INS Mahendragiri as a major addition to the Indian Navy's strength and highlighted Visakhapatnam's growing role in India's maritime security.
The Defence Minister said the warship has been built with about 75% indigenous content and is equipped with advanced systems, including BrahMos missiles and rocket launchers. He also highlighted India's progress in AI, drone technology, advanced shipbuilding and the Maritime Vision 2030 initiative. Rajnath Singh stressed that India's policy is based on peace, but the country is fully prepared to respond firmly to any threat against its sovereignty.
