Defence Minister Rajnath Singh stated that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the central government is strengthening traditional defence capabilities while investing in next-generation technologies. He described Operation Sindoor as an example of integrating conventional and modern warfare systems. Emphasizing India’s commitment to building a technologically advanced and combat-ready navy, he said INS Mahendragiri stands as a strong symbol of this vision.
The advanced stealth frigate INS Mahendragiri was dedicated to the nation at the Eastern Naval Command’s N-14A jetty in Visakhapatnam. The minister highlighted that the frontline warship reflects the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, with over 75 percent indigenous technology used in its construction. Named after a mountain range in Odisha, the ship was completed within a short span and features capabilities to deploy the supersonic BrahMos missile. He added that the vessel will play a crucial role not only in combat operations but also in maritime missions like SAGAR.
